Come Find the Missing LinC in Your Life

This fellowship group is about "Living in Community" together as we share life experiences and grow in our faith. Since the fall, our group has grown to around 25-30 people. LinC has been a wonderful place for young individuals and families to develop relationships with one another and become more involved with Joy.


We have many exciting things on the horizon for this ministry. Currently, LinC meets once a month for a fellowship activity, two small groups are in the process of getting started, and we have plans for a Sunday school class starting in the fall.


As this group has grown, we have realized how special and unique our young adult ministry at Joy really is. Few congregations have intentional activities to help young adults get connected to a faith community. The stories we hear over and over share how important this is for people when they are looking for a church home.


We all know young adults, friends, neighbors, or co-workers, who may not be connected to a church family. For whatever reason, they have not found a place that fits for them. We would like to share all the exciting things going on with LinC with those in our community.

There is a place for everyone! And it's at FEVER PITCH!!

Who:  Hosted by LINC, Young Adults of Joy...We range from right out of college to middle of career, from singles to married, from expecting to toddlers.  No matter where you are in your life experiences, this is a place where you can relate with people going through similar things.  Joy has something very special. And what an exciting thing for us to share! 

What:  Fever Pitch...Fever Pitch is an opportunity for us to reach out to young adults in the community and invite them to see what we are all about.  This will be a relaxed, fun environment for them to get connected. We can share our stories about what Joy means to us, talk about what our fellowship group has done together, and kickoff all the programs for the fall.  We hope this will be the missing LINC that helps people make these important connections.

When:  Saturday, August 27, 2011, 6:00-10:00pm

Where:  Twin Lakes Clubhouse

Why:  Many people are looking for communities of faith to be involved in, to have support from, and as a place for their families to grow.  There are many young adults in our community who have not been able to get connected to a church family.  For a variety of reasons, they just haven’t found the place that fits for them.  We’ve heard from many of you how important young adult ministries are within a community of faith. Our group is excited and active, with lots of program opportunities for young adults. 

How:  So – what’s next?  And what can you do?  Joy LINC will be the hosts for this event.  We would like for the members of this group to participate in the planning, get the word out, and share your own stories about getting connected. Mallory Long (malloranche@gmail.com), Carrie Potter (carriebpotter@gmail.com), and Ashley Twitchell (vicarashley@gmail.com) are the team leaders.  If you are able to help with planning over the summer weeks, consider which team you’d like to be a part of.  Or if being hands on that weekend is more your thing, sign-up for those teams.  Everyone will be involved with inviting folks and getting the word out.  Here are some of the plans for you to get on your calendar. You can ask any of the team leaders for more information.

• Sign up for ways to participate in planning and getting ready. Brainstorm ideas and be creative. Meet with your team to discuss responsibilities.
• Mid July-Save-the-Date coozies and postcards available for you to distribute to friends, co-workers, and neighbors.
• Check back here for Fever Pitch pictures and get updates.
• Sunday, July 24, 31, August 7, 9:30-10:15am-Outreach Conversations...How do we get the word out?  What outreach look like?  How do I share my story?
• August-Spread the word like wildfire – invite, invite, invite!
• Get hands on as we decorate and set-up.
• ENJOY FEVER PITCH!
• Quick clean up and we’re on our way rejoicing!

We will be discussing an exciting new opportunity for August that will continue to connect and grow our Young Adult group here at Joy! Get excited about music, fabulous food, games, and fireworks.
